Hopeless Returns

Johannes du Toit - Was searching in English for a book to the value of ca. R 2 200. I later noted that the book ordered was the correct title but in Hindi. I requested the book to be returned. Loot arranged for a courier to collect. The parcel was handed to the courier with no damage to the book. A week or so later I was notified that the book had been damaged and that I would not receive any refund. Apparently their refund does not make provision for damaged during couriering. My argument is that when I handed the item to the courier, which Loot arranged and paid for I handed the item to Loot as the courier acted as their resource. How can they assure me that the book was not damaged for instance by one of their employees during opening. It seems evident that the book was damaged after opening of the parcel either by falling or items pressing against the edges. I further have witnesses that the item was handed to the courier free of damage. They may gain one battle by falsely claiming this item but will loose the war of life long sales to me or my family.
