Don't preorder from this loot
I phoned loot last week Tuesday to find out why the delivery date for Days Gone was stating today (Monday 29-Thursday 2nd May) whilst also stating preorders would arrive on Friday (26th). After speaking to Elana, who queried, then promised me that preorders arrive on release date, I went ahead and ordered the game. Come Friday morning, the game was still in Cape Town. Come midday, still in Cape Town. So I called back to query this as the only reason I bought from them, was the promised a Friday delivery and I was buying it as a gift I needed for Friday evening. Leaving me to explain all of this to a lot of people, which was quite awkward. Elana answered again and went to check what was going on, with the promise of a call back within an hour. An hour and a half came before I had to call back. She answered again, lying that she was just about to call, as it goes with poor service, stating that my suburb of Durban, was outside a city area. Now no courier or online shop, including loot, have seen me as a regional/outlying area, being only 5-10km (far less than their sites claimed "within a 50km radius of a major city") from the beach front. First she said I could get R100 off, which I was insulted by because that's probably the fee they'd have to pay to return the game. Then she said she'd escalate my order, getting a manager to call me back before 5. I said that wasn't acceptable, because by then, it would be to late to sort it out. So she said someone would call me within the hour. That would be about 15:30-1600. At 1630 I called back. The unbelievably rude and argumentative "manager" called back, telling me it wasn't their fault, that I'm outside a city area, not within the limits. When I said that was the first time that had ever happened and that Elana had checked and said my area was fine (and that economy gets automatically upgraded to priority for preorders), she checked again and maintained that the fault wasn't loots... but loot's "system" that gave an error... This so called "manager" said a return had been logged but now I must wait for them to fix their mess up, wait for the game to arrive back in their grubby mitts and then wait for their ineptitude to log a refund. BUT, instead of logging the return of the product, and I guess waiting for them to snail mail it back to the far reaches of the country (who knows what size their 50km radius is in Cape Town), they just ignored the request and their package arrived at my door, at about 12:20 or so today (Monday). Clearly, because they have no clue how to sort their own... mess. Now, this delays 1) me getting my money back and 2) actually doing what I should've done in the first place, namely buying from a reputable company, not deviously trying to force me into accepting their shockingly bad service. So after speaking AGAIN, to someone from loot (which costs me money), they told me to make sure I don't accept it, otherwise it would be my baby. Now, it was only by shear luck or devine intervention, that I happened, at the time, to be on a call to my office when the courier arrived. Otherwise, I'd be liable?
What, precisely, is your problem loot? Incompetence, deceit, lack of interest? That's right, all of the above.
Perhaps Gary Hadfield should explain to me how these things work. Perhaps he should be explaining to his staff how these things work. Unless that delivery was a gift and you were intending to pay me back as well? Well, then I'll apologise, after you do. And give you 2 stars.
