Allowing anyone to receive my parcel

On 11 August 2015, the courier company tasked with delivering my parcel, handed it over to an unknown person despite the e-mail from Loot stating:

NB: Due to the high value of this parcel, you will need to be there to receive it in person and present your ID document or drivers license when doing so.

The parcel is nowhere to be found and nobody from Loot or the courier company wants to take responsibility for this!
I think it is time for legal action.

Hello Archie123,

We are glad we were able to confirm with you, in our phone call just now, that the parcel is safely in the hands of your colleague.

We assure you that both Fedex and Loot started to investigate this as soon as we received your email expressing concern that someone else had signed for your parcel. We certainly do take these concerns very seriously and assure you Loot and Fedex will always take full responsibility should any parcels not be delivered correctly. We hope that both ours and Fedex's communications with you have indicated this.

We apologise that in our email we advised that you would be requested to present your identification and that this was not followed through. However, in terms of courier deliveries in general, a delivery is considered successful when it has been delivered the address provided. If you would would like us to ensure that the courier definitely asks for your ID, we can always make this arrangement, even for lower value parcels.

As discussed, Fedex is happy to collect the parcel from your colleague tomorrow and deliver it to you at your home address.

Kind regards,
Beryl Jearey.
