Service Plan Quotation
I inquired for a quotation via Hyundai and was contacted by Liquid Capital for a service plan as my daily vehicle is paid off and no longer on motor plan. I was looking for a service plan for the 2025 service year onward. It is a 2018 model with 48,000km on the odometer.
A cell center agent contacts me for a quotation which is for 3 years or 45,000km, whichever comes first. The upfront cost "would have been" R41,000 but the monthly cost is R471.09, which over 36 months is R16,959.24.
R41,000 upfront cost vs. R16,595 spread over 36 months? This makes no sense. A R24K difference means someone is overcharging for parts and labor
The R471,09 monthly payment makes sense but then the agent goes on a 5-minute ramble about terms and conditions, where I have no clue what he is saying, and at the end, he asked if I agreed with the terms and conditions to make the policy active.
I said no as I had to interrupt him to explain he is just rambling words about the terms and conditions relating to cancelation and damage during services etc., and he can only proceed if I accepted to the terms and conditions, which is a very long list he spent several minuted reciting to me. He is clearly earning commission from this transaction, which I understand but send me a quotation in writing with the terms and conditions before I proceed.
He said I will be sent the policy wording and terms and conditions AFTER I accept telephonically (call is recorded for compliance purposes as an FSP), from customer care.
So, I said no I do not accept, and we ended the call. I cannot accept something I cannot agree upon, and you cannot expect me to go through every term and condition telephonically.
I have received an SMS congratulating me for accepting the Service Plan for R471.09 starting 25 August and the plan documents will be sent within 30 Days. PLEASE ENSURE THIS IS NOT ACTIVE
If you have the terms and conditions of your service plan, send it to me to read through so I FULLY understand what I am accepting.
I do not blame the call agent, but I blame the process.
Received a call and apparently the terms and confirms can be sent prior to entering into an agreement. Is this case? A quote is a document with the cost, terms and conditions of the agreement.
As per the recording, I stopped the person as he was reciting a long list of key terms regarding late payments, damage, cancellation, refunds, etc. all of which I had to agree in order to activate the service plan and then wait to records a physical document.
The call agent said I would just end up speaking to a call agent again as customer care post the policy document.
