Worse than poor hospital care

The patient care recieved from Life Hospital Fourways was the worst experience. First day- daughter taken to Life Fourways with a knee injury, she slept the afternoon due to pain medication only to wake in the evening to find no food for super. 2nd staff forgot to take my daughter for a MRI and after asking for pain meds had to wait 4 hours. The MRI stint caused her to spend an extra day in hospital. 3rd day. After the doctor advised her not to walk around she requested a bedpan only to be told to get up and walk to the toilet 4th day of operation she requested her medication at 19H00 and finally got told at 21H30 they forgot to order her medication. 5th day she asked for help to clean herself only to be told to do it herself. During this time I tried numerous times to contact the person involved with patient care to no avail then on the day of discharge and over 30 minutes on the phone I eventually got hold of the acting hospital manager and yes by this time I was very frustrated, the acting managers response to my complaints was "so what do you want me to do about it" That definitely wasn't the help I expected and what makes me even more upset is because of the lack of care and missing the MRI she spent an extra day in hospital thus making our medical aid pay for the unacceptable service. The disrespect and total lack of empathy is disgusting. And now the dilemma her doctor is based at the hospital and we are very happy with him. She might need a second operation on her knee in 5 weeks so what does a person do to ensure this care or lack of care doesnt happen again.
