Westville Hospital ER disgusting service and astronomical costs

On Sunday evening the 1st September 2019 my husband rushed me to Westville Hospital. My symptoms were a temp of 40, a heart rate of 138bpm, and a BP in the 170 range, unable to breathe, and every cough sent a searing pain through my back and into my chest. After being told to wait for them to get a "bed ready", I was only taken through 10/15 mins after we arrived, and there were no other patients in the ER. At this stage, anxiety was setting in and I was petrified. I couldn't speak as I had no voice, but just kept saying to the sister, that I didn't want to die. She was so sympathetic and reassuring. My temp was taken, and BP. I then had an ecg and thr lab came to take blood to check cardiac enzymes to rule out a heart attack. During this time, I had not even seen a doctor. Now with a temp of 40 one can understand a rapid heartbeat and an ecg was necessary. After been given an Ativan to put under my tongue, my heart rate started dropping and BP dropping. Still no sign of a doctor. Now my husband had told the sister about all my symptoms and that I had started feeling ill on Sunday afternoon and that we had been in contact with a person who had been in hospital for swine flu. She said she wld tell the doctor, whom we still had not seen. Cardiac enzyme tests take about an hour, so having arrived just before midnight, waited 10 to 15 mins for "a bed", then the BP, ecg, temp and a lab tech to come and take bloods, it was after 2am that the sister came to tell me that my blood tests came back normal, still no sign of the doctor. My husband said fine but what about the pain I was experiencing when coughing. I'm assuming at this stage that the doctor overheard my husband asking the sister this question, and he made an appearance on the room. He did not say one word to me, he didn't introduce himself, he never listened to my chest, he didn't even greet me or say "what are you experiencing". My husband said to him that I'm having trouble breathing and when I cough I experience extreme pain. He then went on to tell him about having been in contact with someone with swine flu. He mumbled to my husband, "it's not swine flu". How could he make this assumption without examing me, or even talking to me. He walked out the room and we never saw him again. The sister came back in and my hubby asked if I was being admitted and she said no, doctor had discharged me. Now that little visit cost R2K. We are on Discovery Smart Plan, which is a hospital plan. Our premiums monthly are R3. 5K. Monday my husband took time off work as he didn't want to leave me home alone. He took me to a doctor who was so angry that I had not been admitted. My temp was still high, BP elevated, still chronic pain when I coughed. I was sent for chest x rays, more blood tests and an injection for pain. I forgot to mention Westville Hospital put an iv line in my hand to administer a pain med and this cost R1K. Why, when they could have just administered an injection. So, with x rays, blood tests, pain meds and going into the doctors rooms for 3 days to have iv antibiotics, why would Westville Hospital not admit me. With the exception of the sister who helped me, Westville Hospital should really interview the doctors who are on duty at their ER room. My concern is, what if I had had a pulmonary embolism? A hospital is a place where you go when you sick. Why are people charged such astronomical fees when u aren't even examined by the ER doctor. Why was I not admitted? Yes I wasn't having a heart attack thank the Lord, but how could I be discharged without even been examined by a doctor. Med aid schemes are failing their members and Westville Hospital ER certainly has no patient consideration. Had I died from a pulmonary embolism, would that have been hospital negligence? Doctors take an oath to take care of people. This is not the case at Westville Hospital ER. I'm sure they will know who was on duty that evening, cause I sure as hell don't as we saw him for all of 2 mins. This matter needs some clearance and a reimbur*****t of funds for "seeing a doctor" in the ER.
