Very Bad Service from the Doctor

I’ve never in my entire life experienced such bad & unprofessional service from a medical Doctor or one of “the best” hospitals before, and I must say am very very disappointed in the bad treatment I received at this Hospital.

I visited the hospital Emergency Unit on the 15 June 2019 just after 13h00 as I wasn’t feeling well, and I wanted medical assistance since this was worrying me for weeks and it wasn’t my first time visiting this Hospital. The waiting period wasn’t that long after I signed my name in at the reception so that wasn’t really the issue here. My BIGGEST concern or disappointment was after being called in by one of the Nurses (Who by the way gave me the best treatment and made me feel comfortable as a patient), however after she attended to me and took my BP & reason for the visit, I then waited for about 45min and was then seen by Dr Peet Van De Merwe Malan, who was VERY VERY rude to me as if I disgust him or I just came there to waste his time as a ‘black person/patient’ while other ‘white patients’ await to be treated fairly by him in the waiting room. (that’s how he made me feel).

He asked me such irrelevant questions that has nothing to do with my health, told me so rudely to remove my handbag from the bed-tray as he wanted to write in the file, and he told me that I should have only one GP around my area who can assist me and that what I came to treat there that day was not that important to have it checked out at the Emergency Unit (mind you it was a weekend and all Dr’s rooms in town are closed in my area, and the only medical help I could get ASAP was at this hospital since it was closer). He added and told me that they were other “important” and most injured patients waiting for hours and ready to be giving urgent attention, while I was there with a “minor” issue to have it checked out. I then told him I wouldn’t have come there if I wasn’t worried about it and I came here as I needed medical help but to be given this kind of treatment! He never even came back to me tell me my results but instead he sent another Dr to do his job, wow!

This Dr seriously made me feel unwelcomed at this Hospital, and as if I just came to waste his time examining me (which is his job that he gets paid for) to check if I’m ok and that’s only after I had asked him to. I would never recommend this Dr to anyone and esp since this isn’t a Public Hospital but a Private one, and worst of all I’m using my own Medical Aid to be treated and wouldn’t just go to the Emergency Unit to waste my money and everyone’s time like I don’t have a hobby! This was really a horrible service from Dr Peet Van De Merwe Malan!
