Very bad service

I visited Eugene Marais emergency unit on the 13th of September due to intense pain that I had in my side. I was assisted by Dr. Dippenaar who quickly came to the conclusion that it could be due to a nerve in my back and I was sent to X-Rays. I told her that I have had slight pain for about 2 years but it was not "this" pain that I was experiencing at the moment and that I have never felt this before.

After the X-rays Dr. Dippenaar came back to see me and informed me that I have a slight case of scoliosis and that could be causing a nerve ending getting caught. I did not agree entirely that it was the correct diagnosis for the pain I was feeling and informed her that this pain was in the right side but also the lower abdomen etc.

She told me that I must come for a follow up the next morning because the needed services are not available after hours. As soon as I arrived home, I received a call from Dr Dippenaar to which she said she picked up from my medical history that I was previously diagnosed with my liver and that they could admit me to hospital. I told her its fine I will be there in the morning for the follow up.

The following morning I went for the follow up and they did a sonar on me. My case was handed over from Dr. Dippenaar who was on the nightshift to Dr Smit who informed me that my organs looked normal and that I should go for a colonoscopy.

I phoned Dr Durant's office to make an appointment for the colonoscopy and they gave me an appointment for Monday 19 September, I contacted my medical aid that same day to get authorisation as on the plan that I am you need to get authorisation for procedures like that. I spoke to Sumaya who took me through the process and informed me that because I havent been on the plan for atleast a year there will be a review by the panel and that they need to get the reports from my GP etc and after they received it, it could take up to 16 working hours for me to get authorisation.

On the 16th of September I havent heard anything yet so I phoned my medical aid to query the status of my authorisation. I was told that they haven't received the report yet from the Doctor, so I phoned Eugene Marais hospital emergency unit and was directed to Jacky who told me they were exremely busy and that she is waiting for the Dr on duty to sign it off. I explained to her that I needed the report already as my appointment was on Monday and there is a 16 working hour turnaround time to which she rep**** she would speak to my medical aid after sending them the report and tell them that my appointment is on Monday. I had to phone in several times that day and eventually at 14:42 they sent the report.

I had to cancel my appointment for the colonoscopy, and told them that I would make an appointment as soon as I received authorisation.

On Wednesday the 21st of September I still have not received authorisation, so I phoned my medical aid to query the status. I spoke to Nicolas who told me he would esculate the matter. A short while later I received a call that I did not disclose that I have had this problem for 2 years and because of that they are giving notice that my plan will be canceclled.

Today I spoke to Preeti Preeti Jagjiwan about appealing and asked her to email me the details. She told me that they would need an updated report from the Dr so I phoned the emergency unit again and asked to speak to Dr Dippenaar. I was told by Maria that she would get the Dr to call me back. Awhile later I was phoned back by Jacky and I explained the whole situasion to her and told her I actually need to speak to the Dr directly but Jacky insisted that I speak to her as the Dr is too busy and that she is handling this. After explaining to her to the best of my ability she said she would discuss it with the Dr but she actually cant change the report as this would put her in bad light with the medical aid.

To conclude, I am now loosing my medical aid plan because of this. I would like to take this matter further as I think this is totally unacceptable.
