I am deeply disappointed, distressed, and concerned by the lack of care, professionalism, and compassion shown, which falls far short of the values of Passion for People, Quality, Performance Pride, and Personal Care promoted on your website.

I arrived at the hospital at 03:00 after experiencing severe and constant upper abdominal pain that required ambulance assistance. Despite my condition, I was only examined by a doctor at approximately 11:30. During this extended period, I was left alone for hours without assistance, reassurance, or follow-ups by the doctor. When I was finally seen, the doctor’s manner was dismissive and condescending rather than supportive. I was told that I was wasting my medical aid, a comment that was deeply inappropriate and unprofessional, especially considering I presented with genuine pain that required emergency attention. At no point should a patient be made to feel guilty or ashamed for seeking medical care.

The doctor further stated that my pain was due to alcohol consumption, despite my clearly explaining that I do not drink alcohol. This assumption was incorrect and troubling. Thereafter, I was told that my pain was caused by stress and advised to enjoy life, without any meaningful explanation or supportive discussion. This minimised my symptoms and made me feel attacked rather than helped.

The doctor later indicated that he thought my blood work had been done, however, no scans were performed, and there appeared to be a lack of communication and awareness regarding my care. This raises serious concerns about attentiveness and coordination during my admission.

Despite being told that my pain was stress-related or alcohol-related, I was still given a prescription for medication. This contradiction left me confused and questioning the basis of the diagnosis. If the cause was assumed to be stress or alcohol, why was medication prescribed without a proper explanation?

After being discharged, I returned home and vomited and remained in significant pain. This further reinforces my concern that my symptoms were not taken seriously or adequately addressed.

I felt belittled, dismissed, and unsupported throughout my time at the hospital. The experience left me emotionally shaken and reluctant to seek medical care in the future, which is deeply concerning.
