Poor service at Rosepark Hospital, Bloemfonetin
Good day On 28 September 2020 I took my 17 year old son to Reosepark Hospital in Bloemfontein. Because of COVID a nurse told me I was not supposed to go with him in the examination room, but a nurse or a doctor would come and give me feedback. No one did. My son was examined, the Dr explained (in medical terms) the diagnosis and send him home with a prescription. I demanded the Dr to explain my son's diagnosis to me (as my son could not remember everything the Dr had told him. He was dizzy, weak and had a rapid heart beat). The Dr was arrogant, and uncooperative) and refused to explain anything to me. His argument being that he had already explained the diagnosis to my sick son, who was probably listening with half an ear. As a mother (who's son was a patient) it is my right to ask for a Dr to explain (in simple terms) what my son's diagnosis is. He is under-age, but even if he was 32 years old, I have the right to hear from the Dr himself, if I choose to. The next thing they send me these huge bills that I have to pay, for such poor treatment? Many private hospitals, including this one, are way too overrated. I lodged a complaint to the hospital and demanded a written apology. I'm still waiting. I told my family that even if I'm dying, they should drive past that hospital to another one, where patients are hopefully treated with respect and dignity. The service I received was not for free, even it was, (as would be the case in a state hospital) patients have rights. PS: I'm sure the Dr will have a different version of what happened. But I complained the very same day of my son's visit. To him, the admissions clerk and the night matron on duty that night. Regards
