Patients not taken seriously

I was admitted at Life Brenthurst Clinic on the 20th of January for my ENT surgery. My surgery went well and i was out of theater just after 10:00 am. Things soon took a turn for the worst when the gauze i got from theater was soaked around 13:00 and asked the nurses for a clean one. All the day staff nurses kept telling me that they were not allowed to change my gauze as i had nose plugs inserted (which was not true). around 15:00 I asked again for a clean gauze and one nurse said she's come to dress me (which never happened). At 17:00 I asked again and my plea fell on deaf ears. I was told to put on my oxygen mask which I could not use at the time as I had a soaked gauz and I was starting to breath in my blood and felt like I was about to choke. I eventually stopped bleeding through my nose and the gauze started to dry up. This brought some relief to me because this meant I could use the oxygen mask. My main worry is that these nurses intentionally ignore patients and do not feel the need to be helpful towards people who are in pain and require some assistance to get about their day.

There was a patient that was in the ward I was recovering in and she had just had a hernia surgery. She asked one night shift nurse to disconnect her from the drip as she needed to make use of the bathroom and she was told that she should walk to the bathroom with the empty bags of drips that were given to her. The nurse did not even try to assist her out the bed so she could make use of the bathroom. I took it upon myself to assist the patient because I know how painful it can be to get up and walk after a surgery on your abdomen since I had a c-section before. I assisted the patient to get up and helped her walk to the bathroom, waited for her and helped her back to her bed. The only person that actually took our concerns and pleas seriously is a male nurse by the name of Skhumbuzo who was on night shift duty on that day. He came with a clean gauze and as he was about to change my soaked gauze which I had on since I was discharged from theater, he was told not to change it as the day shift nurses were given an instruction by my doctor not to change it so I spent the night with the ****** gauze. I was given a box of Salex by day staff nurses and was told my doctor will explain to me how to use it.

This became interesting in the morning around 9:00 when my doctor came through to discharge me and found me in the ****** dry gauze he put on in theater and that when I found out that I had no nose plugs and that my doctor did not give any instruction to anyone about my gauze nit being changed. My Plea is to the Life Healthcare management to please look into how patients are being treated at Brenthurst clinic. Our medical aid cant keep paying the hospital for such mediocre treatment and what irks me is the fact that prior to my surgery at Brenthurst I was admitted at Life Flora Clinic from the 1st of January to the 6th of January where I got the best treatment. I thought since both hospitals fall under the same brand that the treatment would be the same and boy was I lying to myself
