Patient violation from Dr Baars from Flora Life Healthcare Joburg
On 13 September 2024, I went to Life Flora Hospital Johannesburg in the middle of the night because I had inhaled a gas at work that was hindering my breathing. I had to drive myself to the hospital regardless of my critical state and I did so hastily. When I arrived at the hospital, I struggled to find a parking spot and due to my critical condition that needed to be tended to immediately I unknowingly parked in a reserved parking spot that was written Dr Baars. As I was making my way into the hospital a security guard ran towards me and attempted to inform me that I parked in the wrong parking spot but due to my dire condition I was unfortunately incapable of returning to my car and moving it. I was admitted into the hospital that evening and only discharged the following morning. To my dismay when I went to my car on the day I was discharged I found my windscreen vandalised with the words: ''can you not read'' and I was not impressed by this at all especially because I was recovering from the gas. I felt violated by Dr Baars who lacked humanity and empathy to maybe consider the fact that perhaps it was a dire situation and the car parked on his/her spot was parked there unintentionally. Over and above, the lack of humility displayed by Dr Baars is also quite revolting, as his/her reaction to my car being parked in his/her spot is melodramatic almost as if using another parking spot that was not reserved for the doctor will result in the world ending. I do not understand how parking in a different parking spot could evoke so much anger in someone so much so that they immaturely vandalise another person's property. Furthermore, the doctor informed the security guard that my car was unlicensed which is inaccurate. On the night of my admission my license disc holder fell onto my passenger seat and I was unable to place it back onto my windscreen until I was discharged. I did attempt to report the issue to the hospital in person and a lady from the hospital told me that she would call me later on. When she called me she informed me that I can only make complaints about the actual hospital and not the parking. I was dissatisfied by this response because had the roles been reversed and had it been Dr Baars making the complaint, the complaint would be dealt with seriously. The least I expected was an apology from Dr Baars but I never received that. I am highly unimpressed by this matter because I paid a lot of money as a patient and for me to be wrongly violated over an issue that could have easily been solved via a discussion with Dr Baars.
