Outstanding bill - debt collectors.
Extremely Disappointed – ********* Billing Practices
We took our daughter to the emergency room at Roseacres Life Hospital in Germiston at the end of March. We spent approximately 3 hours there and paid in full, in cash, before leaving. At the time, there was no mention of any outstanding amounts, and we assumed everything was settled.
To our shock, a week ago (months after the visit), I received an SMS from a debt collection agency claiming we have outstanding hospital fees. It turns out Roseacres reported us as non-paying clients and handed the account over — without ever contacting us, sending a bill, or even a courtesy call to clarify any discrepancy.
This is completely unacceptable. How can a hospital escalate a supposed outstanding balance to debt collectors without informing the patient first? We paid cash and left with the understanding that the bill was settled. It is near impossible to get through to their billing department to dispute or get clarity on the matter.
This experience has been frustrating, unprofessional, and deeply upsetting. I will never return to Roseacres and have advised friends, family, and colleagues to avoid this facility at all costs. If this is how they treat paying patients, imagine how they handle more serious issues.
