O/S Account of R6K

Good-day Eugene Marais Hospital In late Jan/Feb I was admitted to Eugene Marais Hospital. I went to the hospital casualty and blood was taken from me. When the results came back the doctor discovered that I had no iron in my body. She said I need a iron transfusion and that they will admit me. I waited roughly 2 hours to get a authorization number, which eventually came through. I was setup and went to the ward put on a drip and later that afternoon put on the iron transfusion which ran all night. The next morning I was cleared to go with a script for Quadrofer a months supply. To my surprise a month later I get a call from the hospital saying I owe R6K for the drip as the medical aid did not pay for it. I called the medical aid and they advised me that they only gave authorization for QUADROFER to be taken orally in hospital (mind you I did not even receive this while in the hospital bed). I cannot establish who is to blame here, but definitely not myself. How can the hospital administer something that was not authorized or if there was not authorization it should of been discussed with me for me to decide if I am in a position to pay for it.
