Life Carstenhof, worst hospital to be admitted

Life Carstenhof!!! Disappointed in their service. Brought in my son on Monday evening to the ER as he was vomiting everything I fed him and had diarrhea, my 8 month old was so weak. The nurse I spoke to 1st wrote on the form that the baby had diarrhea, she ignored everything else I told her. The doctor that was assisting me (Jean) noted on the documents that my son was active. He told the nurses to give my son rehidrat, we sat there from 20:49 and were discharged at 23:55. Doctor did not tell me why I was kept there for so long without my son being put on a drip, did not tell me what was wrong with my son. I had to read the diagnosis on the documents he gave me with the prescription. I spent R850 the next day on the prescription he gave, my son wasn't getting any better. Took him to my GP on Wednesday who then referred me back to the hospital to get my son on a drip. We get there and the receptionist tells me that I need to pay a copayment and also pay copayment for Monday, I told her that nobody told me about Monday's copayment, she then told me that she doesn't think medical aid will pay as I'm not allowed to claim twice in a week for coming in to ER. So who's fault is it that my son wasn't attended to accordingly the 1st time I brought him in? So on Wednesday as they were trying to check for a vain to draw blood from my son, the same doctor then suggested that if they don't get blood from his arms or feet then they will need to draw blood from his head. I don't know if that is allowed, but that didn't make any sense to me, why would 1 draw blood from an infants head?

Moving on to the pediatric ward, day shift staff(15/04/2022) rude nurses, unprofessional. One had the nerve to ask me why my mom took leave with me when she could have stayed at home, why are we all at the hospital. How is it her business? She refused to let me swap turns with my mom, told me to come swap during visiting hours because they don't want up and downs. I mean I am the mother of the child, I had errands to attend hence the swap with my mom. Other nurse in the early hours when I was doing the initial swap with my mom, told us that whoever is going must go out ASAP as they don't want us to be in the same room at the same time and we must do the swap at the entrance not in the ward. So who in their right state of mind leave an 8 month old alone in the ward?

I however would like to thank Mr Tshabalala and Priscilla for hearing my concerns and trying by all means to ensure that my stay is comfortable. However I will never recommend this nonsense hospital and their staff to any of my friends or family
