Life Bedford Gardens Casualty

Let me tell you about my experience at Life Bedford Gardens hospital these past two days.

I have a three-year-old son who was dehydrated two days ago (13/03/18) and I took him to Bedford Gardens hospital casualty. There were about eight people in the queue and I told the woman at the casualty front desk that my son is showing all the signs of dehydration and needs to see a doctor urgently. Her reply was “Oh I am sorry, you need to wait in the queue” so I asked her if I should rather go to another hospital and her response was “If you cannot wait in the queue then you can go to another hospital”. I took my son to Busamed Modderfontein Hospital where my son was attended to within seconds and the doctor confirmed that my son was dehydrated and needed to be on IV medication immediately.

My wife got very sick last night, picked up the same bug from my son but it was more severe. I had to call the ambulance to pick her up because she was severely dehydrated. I had requested that the ambulance take her to Life Bedford Gardens because that is the only hospital closest to me on the Discovery Delta Network. The ambulance got to Bedford Gardens hospital, the paramedic rang the bell at the Casualty door and the nurse didn’t even open the door completely. She just stuck her head out the door and told the paramedic “Sorry we have no beds find another hospital” The nurse didn’t even bother asking what was wrong with the patient. The paramedic stood there pleading with the nurse just to take her in to stabilize her and they will then take her to another hospital to be admitted. The nurse completely refused to even allow that. My wife needed water to drink so the paramedic asked the nurse if they can just give my wife some water to drink, they will leave and she refused that as well. The paramedics then sped to Busamed Modderfontein Hospital on my instruction because I was no longer interested in how much the co-payment would be as long as my wife would get the professional care and treatment. The paramedics themselves were shocked at quality of service we received at Life Bedford Gardens. I was a huge fan of Life Bedford Gardens hospital but now I will never step back in that place.
