Fourways Life Pathetic Service to Muslim Woman.

I was admitted to Fourways Life and had the worst ever hospital stay. The Islamophobia by nurses towards me was disgusting to say the least. From admission in to the ward right up to me discharging myself because the hospital believed I do not need a plate to have lunch on.

The doctors were amazing. The hospital manager was good unfortunately the nurses in Ward A were not only Islamophobic but didn't care about taking care of me post op.

I got out of theater at 14:00 and asked for water. I only got water after 8pm when I told the doctor noting to her that I asked the nurses and they didn't get me any water.

The nurses claimed they were busy and I wasn't given all my post procedure pain medication.

They did not cater for me despite me indicating halal on my hospital admission documents a month prior to my procedure.

When I was taken into theater the nurses threatened to pull off my headscarf. She also said I must give her my old clothes. The admitting nurse made comments about hiitting me when I get out from theater "when you get out I'll get you" because I said I only show my hair to my family. She made a comment that if I was to change in a room of women would I show them my hair. I said I don't charge in front of anyone. To which both nurses laughed.

One of the nurses would not accept accountability and blamed me for not asking the person that brought me food for a plate. As a South African I have never ever been asked to ask someone whilst in hospital for a plate to eat my food off of.

Their halal vendor did not deliver my food or the hospital in my opinion did not order my food. They said the option for breakfast was a frozen omelet. I have never in my life thought of freezing and then heating an omelet ever. The night before my supper was a frozen chicken Ala king. The lady that brought it to me said it's frozen and I said how must I eat that? She then asked me (a patient that was in excruciating pain after a procedure) how long she should put it in the microwave for.

I can only.chalk this up to Islamophobia as none of the other patients has had the experience I did with the nurses in Ward A.

I forced discharge because being there was supposed to help me heal not make me even more sick.

My ulcers flaired up because I was on so much pain medication and had one frozen meal to eat.

Absolutely disgusting service from the nurses at Ward A.
