Flora Hospital

My wife who is 34 weeks pregnant started complaining about chest pain and i called Dr Mcminn's office which requested that I take her to the Maternity ward immediately. Got to the hospital and was directed to the Maternity ward. The nurse started doing all the tests and requested that I go back to reception to open a file. The receptionist requested my medical aid card and ID, which I provided. The receptionist then asked if I have the R12000 co-payment before admission can be done, I immediately called Gems to ask why the hospital is requesting a co-payment of R12000. The consultant then advised that he does not understand because authorization was never requested from the hospital. I took my wife home in absolute agony and severe chest pain. I know this report will make no difference, but someone somewhere will read this and know that Flora is a money hungry institution. R12000 to get admitted with a medical aid is absolutely ridiculous.
