Eugene Marais Life Hospital - Refund!!!
My husband was admitted to Eugene Marais Life Hospital on 20 July 2024. He had to undergo surgery which was scheduled for Wednesday 24 July.
On Tuesday, 23 July @ 15:50 I received a call that an amount of R35 000 needs to be paid before 8:00 the next morning of the operation otherwise they will not perform the operation.
I was thus given a few hours to gather and pay this amount. On the morning of the 24th the payment was made.
My husbands condition was however to be paid by our medical aid as a PMB which was later confirmed. Thus co-payment was waived leaving EM Life owing us this amount back.
Various forms were completed, banking details confirmed, follow ups etc...We are going backwards and forwards and being transferred from one person to the other with no avail. Each and every day a new excuse.
We are assured for the last two weeks that the payment was loaded but up until today, 20 September 2024 no refund was received.
We see on Hello Peter that this is their normal way of operating. Giving families very short times to make payments but takes months to refund!!!
Who is gathering the interest on these amounts???
Yet the patients and their families are given 12 hours and threatened that should the payment not reflect by 8:00 the next morning the operation procedure will not proceed???
