Discharged with a broken sternum and several broken ribs

Life St. Dominic's Hospital. Two patients were rushed to the ER after an accident where the car was written off. They discharged one at 23:30 in the evening as "nothing is wrong with you" (he had no where to go as his car was written off and there was no family members nearby). The discharged patient (only treated in the ER, thus nothing claimable from the medical aid - bill of R20 000) and the other patient were flown back to Jhb as soon as flights became available to receive adequate care. Upon arrival at the airport the patient who was almost immediately discharged could barely walk. He was taken to another hospital, where he was treated for a broken sternum and several broken ribs. He also had heart attacks in the past and the accident had put additional strain on his heart and the doctors at the Jhb hospital could not believe that the doctors at St Dominic's "hospital" discharged him. He was admitted and stayed in hospital for another week - which was traumatising for him at first as he was utterly afraid of hospitals after the experience he had at St Dominic's "hospital", which included, the patients both not being able to walk, told to urinate in a bottle (which was taken from the trash can in the room) and cup as the nurses did not feel like assisting them to the bathroom. The patients, both elderly and just surviving a horrific car accident, were not handled with care at all, not being told what tests they were going for or what injuries they sustained.

The "service" and "care" that St Dominic's "hospital" provides to clients (they don't have patients, but rather clients) is shocking (the above is merely a taste of the experience). It is shocking that this is the state of a private hospital nee, any hospital.

If you can, do not go to this "hospital", rather go to a good hospital.
