Dalview Clinic

The ONLY reason I would give one star is because of 2 nurses that handle my son with love and care. If it were not for them I would not give a single star.

My son was admitted on the 16th of this months with a broken ankle (2 places). Whilst we are still in the emergency department I told them that they should know that I will be staying with my son at all times as he was in excruciating pain and he gets anxious very quickly. Later that night he was taken to the medical ward. Just after 10pm the night shift matron, Sister Portia said I should leave and I could not be with him. She even asked in a very ****y manner whether my son was crippled or diseased that I needed to be with him...... ***???? I refused as he is still a minor and according to law he may not be refused. Firstly he was placed in a room with someone who has pneumonia (which is contagious) which is not the right procedure. I was asked to stay in the surgical B ward for the night as I was not allowed with him.

The next day, my husband cam so I could go home for a shower and yet again I was treated like ****. Nurses told me I was not allowed there and they would call the day Matron. I encouraged them to do so as I will sleep on the floor but leaving my son was not an option.

Later my son was moved to Surgical A ward which I was grateful for as now I could stay with him. But there was absolute NO communication between the Medical and Surgical ward at all. He laid there in pain. The nurses saw us there but no one came in to check on him, eventually we asked when he will be given pain meds, most of the nurses claimed they did not even know there was a patient in the room. Which is bull**** as they saw me the whole time. Sister Ansie and Marie were awesome and they took it upon themselves to resolve the issue and care for my son when they were on shift. But the rest were awful!!!!! They do not even know how to administer a drip, wear no gloves, drop stuff on the floor and leave it like that. After 3 times of trying to put in a new drip I asked the nurse to call someone to assist, and the nurse in the hall outside the room refused to assist.

Dr Schmidt is awesome, as well as Sister Ansie and Marie. But the others should have there services reviewed by the medical board.

We pay a ****load of money on our medical aid monthly to receive **** service from uneducated nurses. I would urge anyone who ever needs medical attention to AVOID going to Dalview Clinic!
