Bedford Garden Fails the Elderly and Disabled - Abuse Exposed!

Bedford Gardens - Abuse and Neglect of Elderly Patients continues, I am writing this review out of shock, anger and heartbreak at the way my elderly mother - who has Multiple Sclerosis and is completely bedbound, paralysed from the neck down - was treated by a night-shift nurse at Bedford Gardens Hospital. On the night in question, my Mother explained to the nurse that her hands and arms are paralysed and that she needed assistance to be fed. instead of believing her the nurse aggressively insisted she could use her right arm, proceeded to grab and pull her limp arm, and only then realised she was in fact paralysed, To physically manhandle a completely depended, disabled patient in this way was not only degrading but outright abusive and deeply disturbing. The abuse didn't stop there. The next morning, this same nurse removed my mothers nappy and failed to replace it, leaving her completely unprotected in her bed. Had she urinated, she would of been left lying in it - shamed publicly in a busy ward. unable to move or clean herself, requiring an entire team to shift her. this kind of neglect is not only humiliating but also places her in severe risk of infection and bedsores. What I witnessed and heard goes beyond my mothers case, in the same ward, another elderly was left walking around naked during visiting hours while my brother was there. That poor woman's dignity was stripped from her in full view of others. I cannot help but wonder if her family even knows she was left so exposed and uncared for. To make matters worse, this very same nurse would sleep inside her patients ward durning her shift, instead of monitoring and caring for the vulnerable people entrusted to her. this is gross dereliction of duty and raises serious questions about why such people are employed in positions of care. Its becoming clearer why Bedford Gardens Hospital has such a bad reputation when it comes to the care of elderly and vulnerable. What my mother endured is nothing short of abuse and neglect. I strongly believe this HOSPITAL needs to be investigated at the highest level. Organisations like Carte Blanche should be contacted to expose what is happening within these walls so other families are aware of the dangers their loved ones face. NO ELDERLY, DISABLED OR VULNERABLE PATIENT SHOULD EVER BE TREATED WITH SUCH CRUELTY AND DISREGARD FOR BASIC HUMAN DIGNITY!!!
