BAD SERVICE

<div>Onthe03/09/2019 my 10month old was admitted at Life Groenkloof Hospital. The receptionist Tumi then informed me about a co payment of R1500 on admission on my medical aid. I then requested to make a payment arrangement since I have financial problems at the moment. Tumi was so proffessional and very helpful, she then went to her supervisor by the name of Ilze&nbsp; and explained my situation. Ilze then came and said I needed to pay. I then asked her that is she refusing my son care because of R1500, she then said to Tumi she needs to call my medical aid so that they can waiver the amount. I asked what does a patient responsibility have to do with medical aid, Ilze then said my medical aid is gonna shot pay with R1500. She then went back to her office and Tumi called my medical aid as instructed, I spoke to my medical aid and they were so suprised about Ilze's comment and they even cofirmed that an arrangement can be made because they will pay the hospital bill. I was so furios at the moment because I needed to be with my son and was held at reception as a *****, just for R1500 which I requested to pay on over three months. Ilze then came back and said she spoke with the accounts manager and I needed to pay R750 and the balance month end. I really didn't understand which part of I am broke but have medical aid which has even approved the authorisation didn't Ilze understand. I really felt like a ***** at the moment, is it because I am black? Doesn't life healthcare offer payment arrangements to its clients. My 10 month old boy who had 3 seizures needed me but I was busy trying to explain to the receiption supervisor. Is R1500 better that one's life? I am on associated medical aid option and selected Life for hospitalisation and it now feels I was wrong for doing that just for a co payment. I am disappointed at the moment about the kind of treatment I received in reception area in front of so many patients. A lot of thanks to Dr Lambrecht, the sisters at paediatric ward and Tumi for the professionalism and assistance my son received, but Ilze and accounts department really need customer service because even now I am being called daily regarding the co payment by Tumi. Is it her fault that I have financial issues? Hope she is not in trouble because of my issues. Tumi's position has now changed from receptionist to accounts assistant because of me, hence I am asking whether its because I am black?</div>
