TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE

I would like to take this opportunity to share my unpleasant experience at Glynnwood Trauma.

I am normally not a person to complain or make a scene but the service I received is not what I expected a private Hospital to give.

My first visit was on new year's eve where I was assisted by Dr Mabasa, which I had no issues with, I am unhappy with one of the nurses that took me to X-Ray, reason being is she was not made aware of the injury I sustained and yes for a lot of people a stubbed toe with a ripped out nail is not serious but she was could have been more aware of where my injury is before throwing a blanket over my feet, which made the pain worse. Once again I do not like to complain but it made the pain a lot worse.

My second visit with Dr Cousins went a lot better, he examined my X-rays and told me I had a fractured big toe and that I needed to wear a moon boot, the nurse of that day was also very helpfull. He requested I come back after two weeks for him to reassess the fracture.

I went back after two weeks where Dr Lee (If I am correct) from the Stellenbosch University attended my check up. I was taken to the injury on duty ward (I had not sustained this injury at work this was an at home injury) , which is not a big deal but this escalated into a very long long day. Once he got me to a bed he did not know what was happening on my file at all, I had to tell him that the previous Dr requested a check up and X-rays. I then waited to be taken to X-Ray for almost an hour, after my X-rays were taken I was told that it would be about 40 minutes, on top of the 40 minutes I waited another 2 hours where after a patient came in who needed urgent attention, which I do understand. The fact of the matter is that no nurse came to update me, I had to go and ask each time what was happening and still received no update. By the time it was 13:00 Dr came to tell me that my fracture was healed where I asked him to check if we can remove the nail. He then told me he still needs to incubate the patient if I am willing to wait, which I told him I have been here since 9 this morning I guess 30 more minutes would not make a difference. I waited for another hour and a different Dr came to me with a very rude attitude and after our conversation she told me that at the moment they are just too busy to help me to remove the nail. I was shocked and disappointed, a whole hospital with not a single person to assist me, I was told to go to my GP to get the nail removed.

I am not impressed with this experience at this hospital at all.

Once again I do not want to make a scene. I just want you to merely understand that there are areas which need a lot of attention in the Emergency Room otherwise you will have much worse patients than me.
