DCZ #*** (***) Awaiting Reimbur*****t

On the 21.05.2015 my 18 month old daughter fell and broke her leg. At the time we did know it was broken but she was in pain and crying so we took her to our local doctor who is on the list of doctors we are allowed to see through LIBERTY.

He immediately sent us to Casualty at Hillcrest hospital and after X-rays we found out the leg was broken. A doctor was called to casualty to fix her and have a cast put on.

However this doctor is considered a specialist and according to Liberty you need to call first to get authorisation to see a specialist and they are now rejecting our claim because no authorisation was obtained.

However its not like we went to see him in his private capacity for a consultation. He was on duty for Casualty.

We have been with LIBERTY for 5 years and pay R4K a month for our medical aid and have had very few claims this year.

The total claim is R5K and its been over a MONTH with reimbur*****ts. We have paid all the bills and are waiting to be refunded. All we get told is that its been escalated for approval.

How do they expect us to call from casualty with an 18mth old crying in pain. How can a kid's broken bone not be covered by a medical aid?
