Level-7 Wireless is a **** !!! Be Careful
I began a supposed "month-to-month" contract with Level 7 in Feb 2020. The terms of my contract were simply for a 20/2 fibre connection for a fixed fee per month. There was no need for any installation as all the fibre infrastructure & lines were already installed at the property and active.
After 2 weeks of seamless usage, I received an email from level 7 claiming that I need to utilise their wifi router (this depspite already having my own wifi router). I asked why this was the case and was given an unverified , apparently technical explanation that the current router i was using was leaving the servers vulnerable to a 'DNS attack'.
I obliged and allowed the Level 7 technicians to come through and install their router. I was assured that this was NORMAL PROCEDURE and part of my package with them.
In March 2020 the country went into a covid lockdown. I moved down to KZN to wait it out. It was at this point that i attempted to freeze or end my MONTH-TO-MONTH agreement. The only response being that i have to stay a client for the minimum of 12 months or face penalty fees of over R1000.
I again agreed and carried on paying for this service throughout the year. In early 2021 i finally managed to cancel my Level 7 contract, i was then met with emails stating that i needed to return their WIFI Router ( the same one i didn't need !).
Being away from Johannesburg i explained how this wasn't possible and that i would only be back in Johannesburg in June 2021 and their equipment could be returned then.
I was met with letters of demand for amounts exceeding R1000 and threats of having my credit record affected, despite me having made arrangments with them to have their unwanted router collected when i return to Johannesburg.
In June I honored my agreement and returned the router to a Level-7 technician on the original designate pick up day. I was still met with letters of demand except this time it was for legal fees incurred by Level 7 to the value of a further R300.
This dispute is ongoing. My attempts to call their office have gone unanswered, along with my emails.
This is a shakedown operation whereby consumers are **** to and unfaily trapped in contracts that are masked as something else. They are not honest at all. My best bet is find an alternative fibre provider as Level 7 will try everything in their power to charge you unncessary fees and penalties.
