Formal Complaint - Account [77897] - Erroneous Debt Collection

Formal Complaint - Account [ 77897 ] or - Erroneous Debt Collection

To Whom It May Concern,

I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding the handling of my account, [77897], and the subsequent, wholly unjustified referral to a debt collection agency.

I am utterly astounded by the profound administrative failure that has led to this situation. My account was settled in full and this settlement was acknowledged by Level-7. Despite this, and without any prior communication or explanation, my details were passed to VI Debt Recovery.

Approximately 18 months after the account was settled, I began receiving demands for a sum of R1,464.64 from VI Debt, acting on behalf of Level-7. This is unacceptable.

Compounding this error is the complete lack of cooperation from your office when I sought proof of settlement. I have repeatedly requested a settlement letter since April 2023. To date, I have received no such documentation. This failure to provide proof has directly contributed to this distressing and time-consuming ordeal.

My dealings with a member of your staff, Ashle Alberts, have been particularly unhelpful in resolving this matter.

I expect the following actions to be taken immediately:

Immediate Recall of the Debt: Level-7 must formally recall this invalid debt from VI Debt Recovery and provide me with written confirmation that the matter is closed and no money is owed.

Provide Proof: A full and final settlement letter for my account must be issued to me without further delay.

Correct Your Records: Ensure your internal records and all credit bureaus are updated to reflect a zero balance and the settled status of this account from April 2023.

This is a clear case of a settled account being mismanaged. I trust you will resolve this promptly to avoid the need for me to escalate this matter to the relevant ombudsman or consumer protection authorities.

I expect a response and a resolution within 5 business days.

Regards,

Mr. Lerato Mogoere
