Cancellation - Dissapointment

Worst company to have internet with, I have to move and informed them a month and a week before. I asked if my internet can be moved and was informed that there is no coverage where I will be moving to. I do not get anything as I am not going to be using their services anymore but I have to pay a R3500 cancellation fee because my 12 months have not ended. So I am paying because they do not have coverage everywhere and if I do not pay the cancellation I have to pay for another 5 months for a service that I will not be using. They also took the router so I really do not get anything out of the contract. I understand that one signs for a 12 month contract but I also don't get why the consumer must be penalized if they can not provide a service.
