Loophole in international warranty
I bought my Lenovo Yoga laptop in Washington DC and ensured it had an international warranty for when I return to South Africa. Within two months the laptop refused to turn on. According to online accounts this happens a lot. According to the warranty Lenovo would even fetch the laptop for you, but I was hugely inconvenienced working in Pretoria I had to take time off work to fetch and drop the laptop in Johannesburg because Part Share is not open on weekends. On top of this I had a huge problem finding an alternative laptop to continue working off. I sent my laptop in for repairs under the warranty but it took two weeks to find out what was even wrong with it. After a few weeks Part Share informed me that they do not have the means to fix my laptop and escalated the problem to Lenovo. Eventually Lenovo informs me they cannot fix the laptop as they do not have the same model in South Africa. I said I'm so desperate to have it fixed I would pay for it myself but they still are not able to assist. Bad experience, of a poor quality laptop and the loophole of international warranty. Never again Lenovo.
