Lenovo Laptops: Built to Fail
It seems I’m not alone in my frustration, just one more name on a growing list of deeply disappointed Lenovo customers.
We purchased two Lenovo Ideapads three years ago. One has been riddled with issues from day one. The other? It’s now completely dead. So we’re left with two laptops: one barely usable, and one completely useless. Lenovo claims their laptops last 3-4 years, or up to 7 years with proper care. That’s clearly a blatant lie. Ours were well-maintained, yet one now has a fried motherboard, and we’ve been told it would cost more to fix it than to buy a new one.
What’s worse? While waiting at their recommend repair center (PartServe), two other customers were there with the exact same issue - failed Lenovo laptops. Seems like a pattern, not a coincidence.
To add insult to injury, our insurance rejected the claim, citing “normal wear and tear.” Apparently, in Lenovo’s world, a catastrophic motherboard failure after just a few years is “normal.”
I considered writing directly to Lenovo, but after reading hundreds of similar complaints and seeing how poorly they treat their customers, I’m not even going to waste my time.
Their tagline, “Smarter Technology for All,” should honestly be: “Smart on Paper. Broken in Practice.” And while their logo is plastered across every F1 Grand Prix track, I can’t help but wonder: What if they invested that money in building reliable, high quality products instead of flashy sponsorships?
I will never buy another Lenovo product again, and I strongly warn others to think twice before doing so. Unless you enjoy endless frustration, repairs, and replacements, stay away. I’ve already told everyone I know to stay away from buying any Lenovo product. Giving them one start seems like a compliment.
