BRAND NEW LENOVO IDEAPAD50-70 WITH SCREEN FLICKER

I bought a Lenovo Ideapad Y50-70 on 15 July 2015. I have used the laptop for two weeks and the screen has started flashing and showing horizontal lines. This started about 4 days ago. At first I thought it was my imagination, but the problem has become worse.

It is quite clear that this is a manufacturer's defect, particularly, if one reads the forums on Lenovo's website.

In terms of Section 56(2) of the Consumer Protection Act No. 68 of 2008, a consumer is entitled to return goods to the supplier, without penalty and at the supplier's risk and expense, if the goods fail to satisfy the warranty requirements and standards as set out in Section 55, in addition to other warranties.

The supplier MUST, at the DIRECTION OF THE CONSUMER, either repair, replace or refund the defective goods.

I accordingly want a replacement.

I have had no luck with Lenovo's technical department, who treat the matter as a driver-related issue. I have uninstalled drivers, rolled back drivers, updated drivers and still the flickering and horizontal lines continue.

This is not a cheap laptop - retailing at R15,000.00.
