BEWARE OF SHORTCOMINGS IN WARRANTIES ON LENOVA PRODUCTS

Bought a brand new(or so I thought) ideapad 3-15IML05 Laptop Type 81WB Serial no PF3RN7Y9 on 27 February 2023 from a Bloemfontein based computer business. On checking the contents I red the warranty conditions that stated I must check the warranty status through the Website of Lenova. I did so and to my surprise it stated that the warranty on this item already started in May 2022 and will end in July 2023. On contacting Lenova they just informed me this is the case and I must contact the reseller. So I basically,according to them, bought a used item.According to the reseller however the item is brand new. I do not think this is normal practice from big companies and would therefore want to warn consumers to be very aware of this fact when buying Lenova products.Really a sad state of affairs.
