Unpleasant stay at Lenmed Randfontein

My recent stay at Lenmed Randfontein Hospital's pediatric ward was unfortunately far from pleasant. The overall experience left much to be desired, with several concerning aspects that need addressing.

Firstly, the hygiene standards were lacking. It was unsettling to discover that plastic takeaway cutlery was being washed and reused, raising serious concerns about cleanliness and infection control protocols.

Furthermore, the attitude of some of the nurses, particularly Nurse Sharon and Sarah, was disappointing. They exhibited a lack of empathy and professionalism, failing to check on us regularly and displaying a dismissive demeanor when approached. Additionally, their habit of peeping at us without greeting as they passed by only added to the discomfort of the situation.

The state of the facilities also left much to be desired. The floors were noticeably dirty, and the sleeper couches provided for caregivers were uncomfortably hard, making it challenging to rest properly during the stay.

However, amidst these disappointments, there was a shining light in the form of Nurse Executive. She demonstrated genuine care and dedication to her job, going above and beyond to ensure both myself and my child were as comfortable as possible. Her exemplary service was the only reason I was able to tolerate the week-long stay.

Despite being labeled as a private facility, Lenmed Randfontein Hospital failed to deliver the standard of care one would expect. In comparison, even Leratong Hospital could have provided a more satisfactory experience. Ultimately, Lenmed Randfontein Hospital feels more like a private facility in name only, lacking the quality of service and care that should accompany such a designation.

In conclusion, unless significant improvements are made, I cannot in good conscience recommend Lenmed Randfontein Hospital's pediatric ward to anyone seeking medical care for their child.
