Maladministration at La Verna

La Verna Maladministration

On 2018-03-14 I went to La Verna hospital to be admitted for an IOD and at the reception I was met by La Verna employee Vash who then took all my documents and did my admission.I asked her to check if all my documents was correct and she confirmed all was correct and in order.

A few months later I was contacted by Lancet Laboratories informing me that I owed them a certain amount of money because they did not receive my paperwork for the services they rendered for my IOD.I then in turn informed them that I had submitted all my documentation upon admission but they were still adamant that I should pay in the money which they demanded.

I contacted my HR at my workplace and had to resolve the matter on my own.In the interim I was hounded by Lancet

The second incident thereafter occurred when I was admitted to La Verna for surgery dated 29 th July 2019 I had the surgery and went home .Months went by and I was admitted to hospital for another condition when I was approached by case manager Shaheeda who informed me that I owe La Verna monies with the follwing codes 58234 and 58293 with a total of R403,73.I requested Shaheeda to print the statements of which she said I owe money.

Shaheeda brought the invoices and pointed out the codes of the money she said I owed.Shaheeda further said that she is just the case manager and does not deal with accounts and the person that I should see was Vash.I requested to see Vash but Vash did not come.I then informed Shaheeda that I will be contacting my medical aid to resolve the matter whereby she said I owed La Verna monies.

I kept in contact telephonically with Shaheeda informing her that my medical aid is dealing with the matter. On Friday 2020-01-24 I received a message from La Verna stating that I should make payment on my la verna account to avoid legal action.

I contacted my medical aid again and they informed me that I am not liable for the account and La Verna is responsible for that account as it was la vernas fault and that la verna case manager contact my medical aid case manager.I then contacted Shaheeda at La Verna and she told me yet again she does not deal with accounts and I must speak to Vash I was transferred to Vash.I informed Vash what my medical aid said that I am not liable for the monies requested by her.Vash then said "No but I agreed to pay the money" I rep**** that "I said I will sort the matter with my medical aid."

Vash then transferred me back to Shaheeda,Shaheeda now surprisingly said "No that I do not owe that money as the procedures I was being billed for was incorrect."

Finally my points here is the employee Vash in question which was in two incidents.First incident she did not submit my paperwork and second incident she billed me for extra procedures.

Are there ********** transactions being made on our medical aids by certain individuals?I urge other patients to come forward if you have encountered this or being billed for procedures unknown and even if you have not then I suggest you scrutinize all accounts given to you by La Verna.

These are not isolated incidents as I have had to endured medical malpractice previously.

La Verna hospital supposed to be a place where the patients health needs come first, yet our physical and economic lives are being violated.
