********

I am writing to lodge a formal complaint against Kinship Finance regarding the ********* manner in which my income protection policy was obtained and the subsequent failure to honour my cancellation requests. While visiting the Lendplus website to apply for a payday loan, I encountered an application form for Kinship Finance that appeared to be part of the Lendplus loan application process. Based on how the application was presented, I was under the impression that I was completing an application related to Lendplus. I was therefore surprised to receive an email welcoming me to Kinship Finance's income protection plan, which was not the product I intended to apply for. Upon realising this, I immediately took steps to cancel the policy. On 28 September 2026, I sent Kinship Finance an *** requesting cancellation of the policy. I received no response or confirmation that my request had been processed. On 8 October 2026, I sent a second *** expressing my concern about the lack of response and explicitly warning that if a debit order was processed, the matter would become a serious problem. Despite providing Kinship Finance with another opportunity to resolve the issue, I received no confirmation of cancellation. To my dismay, Kinship Finance proceeded to debit R260 from my bank account on 19 October 2026, despite my two prior written cancellation requests. This transaction caused my bank account to go into a negative balance, resulting in financial inconvenience and putting me in an unnecessary and avoidable financial predicament. I consider this conduct extremely ********* and unacceptable. A company that receives clear written cancellation requests should not simply ignore them and proceed with collecting premiums without addressing the customer's concerns. The manner in which the application was presented on the Lendplus website also raises serious concerns about transparency and whether I was adequately informed that I was signing up for a separate income protection product. I therefore demand the following: Immediate cancellation of the income protection policy, with written confirmation that it has been cancelled and that no further debit orders will be processed. A full refund of the R260 debited from my account on 19 October 2026. Confirmation that no further premiums or other charges will be collected in relation to this policy. A written explanation as to why my cancellation requests of 28 September and 8 October 2026 were ignored and why the debit order was processed despite these requests. An explanation of how the Kinship Finance application was presented on the Lendplus website and what steps were taken to ensure that customers understood they were applying for an income protection policy rather than a payday loan. I have retained screenshots of both emails sent to Kinship Finance as evidence of my cancellation requests and the company's failure to respond. These will be included as supporting documentation for this complaint. Should this matter not be resolved promptly, I reserve the right to escalate the complaint to the relevant regulatory and consumer protection authorities. I expect a written response confirming cancellation and the refund of the R260 within five business days of receipt of this complaint. I trust that Kinship Finance will treat this matter with the seriousness it deserves and resolve it without requiring further escalation. Kind regards, Edmond Dolamo
