Terrible move

I moved from Johannesburg to Cape Town at the end of July. After doing extensive research, I ended up choosing Legend Removals. I paid for them to do the packing in Jhb and unpacking in Cape Town. I also paid for 4 items of furniture to be wrapped, and the dishwasher to be connected. Out of 10 items of furniture, 7 were damaged. I had a lot of the furniture painted before the move, these items were treated without any care whatsoever. Their website claims that "every loose item gets blanket wrapping and ropes to secure your items. Trained and experienced staff with a wealth of knowledge"

Besides the damaged furniture, an irreplaceable 1.25 meter ceramic vase was smashed, brand new linen disappeared, tv remotes did not arrive, front door mat disappeared. Despite asking several times for feedback, I received none. What I did receive was 'compensation' of R1 350. I then went back to check the invoice and saw that items I paid for to be wrapped were not, and claimed an extra R950 for services paid for and not delivered. And when I said that I was so upset and disappointed, and that there was total lack of accountability, I was told 'I regret what happened and terribly sorry for what happened. I have made the payment of R1 350 and consider the refund process closed as I see now you are adding more items (R950 for wrapping that did not happen) it is very unfortunate on what happened and please accept my apology'

I can honestly say that it was a very traumatic and horrific experience, I wish I had known this before I used this company!

Good Afternoon Gill
im Terribly sorry for dropping the ball with your move.  Our company motto is Moving People Moving YOU and on your move we moved you, but not in a happy way.
I understand that no amount of apology will help with the emotional damage you are feeling, but there are things within our control and not, we and yourself have to work within the terms.
On the day of loading the truck was not allowed access, this after asking several times and i sent a photo of the truck so you can see it and judge and show the body corporate.  This delay put a lot of pressure on the first day of loading, so instead of packing wrapping and loading we had to split the team to pack load unload and reload. Which made a 6 hours job a 9 hours job
To address the damages of the items you had, you had items repainted with chalk paint which smudges very easily,  so YOUR DAMAGE on some of the items are smudging of the paint and not damage. While some damages was actual damage i admit it. With wrapping we charge per item and yes a lot of the items we did not wrap cause they where not requested to be wrapped and the items that was wrapped and got damaged we paid out for.
You mention you did not get any feedback i have emails and whatsapps  with proof that i responded. You lying.
Gill i responded on all your communications, you might not have liked the responses to the emails but i did respond.  My response was in line with terms you agreed to.
The missing items could have been left at the old. We ended very late there and you still rushed and chased the guys out in the end and the items that are missing could easily have been left at the old house.
The vases that broke was not broken by my staff but the shuttle company that we had to arrange on the last minute and that was arranged through a friend of a friend that could help on the last minute.
I did arrange the people yes.
It escapes me when there is a irreplaceable item like the 1.2m vase,   that this is not protected or asked to be protected cause we do attempt to protect all the items as best we can and still then things get damaged and that why the items that got wrapped and damaged we took responsibility for. Cause if you wrap it and we wrap it then if it gets damaged we pay for it.
The staff should have reconnected the washing machine.
Please accept my apology once again we never want to have a unhappy emotion.
All the best Gill going forward.
