LEGEND REMOVALS S.A. - SHOCKING NEGLECT!

Bad communication. They forgot my move date & I had re schedule CT to Vereeniging. In CT, the loaders were good & careful & packed every item safely. (We checked the inside of the van & it looked safe & secured. Delivery in Vereeniging was another story! A new crew of off loaders. Boxes were bent etc. When unpacking I found one of my framed posters had a huge gouge in it - they lost my Indian cotton rug (irreplaceable). (between R6 & 8k if it were replaceable!) - Though securely wrapped with bubble wrap, the velum of my solid, large djembe drum was ripped from its bindings. Not repairable! These are functional items which I've had for many years- all in perfect condition - as many will attest. Everything was extremely well wrapped & covered in fragile stickers. No one in the chain has claimed responsibility & I was offered an insulting R300 compensation. This was not my first move, but definately the most shocking & damaging! Whoever has my rug, is a *****! If you care about punctuality & the security of your possessions, avoid Legend Movers S.A. Most traumatic!

Hi Edi.
I'm sorry that Legend Removals did not live up to expectations.  Some facts for people reading this. The move was booked for the 27th.  The truck and trailer loaded the biggest load first which turned out to be on the 2nd floor with a tiny service lift that was shared by several other people, so what should have been a 4 to 5 hour loading time turned out to be the entire day surpassing 5pm.  We made arrangements to come and load your items the following day. Communication was present the whole day on WhatsApp, I'm not sure what you mean by we forgot your moving day. We then collected with a smaller vehicle, as your list was only 35 items 20 of them being boxes and took it to a bigger vehicle that yes has a different crew. Different trucks different crews.  So once loaded your consignment went from 35 items to 72 items. As a gesture of good faith we let it slide, what should be taken note of is that you did not list any of these items that are now damaged or missing. We did however load it and record that we loaded it. When we offloaded, you accused us of losing a box and a carpet. Listed the box number and had such surety that we lost it until you found the box at your place.  Now Edi, you mistakenly forgot to list all your items, you mistakenly accused us of theft, you say we damaged 2 items you securely wrapped with bubblewrap only to report on hello peter damages to these items. I  have seen the photos of these items, the drum could not be us, as that would take an immense amount of lateral focused force to pull that leather out the stitching, unless its old and brittle and then pulling the bubblewrap off could tear it. The poster I can agree with, this could have been us,  it has chaffing marks. The missing carpet I agree we loaded it. How come the price of the carpet went from R600 to R8000 after i admitted to not finding it? The offer of R300 is stated in the contract that you agreed to. Now you cry unfair.
When loss is incurred we as a company can be held liable for R300 per 100ft. More than that we offer protective wrapping and insurance and you rejected both of these and did the wrapping yourself. If you do the wrapping yourself the insurance would not payout anyway. It is sad you call the staff *******.
Wishing you better days ahead.

I have a copy of the inventory that the loading manager took (a different one to the one sent to you) Curious as to where 72 items come from ? Please send a copy of that inventory. When I called you & said there were a couple ( 3) more boxes & some loose items, you said not to worry! - again - check the inventory taken at the house. Certainly not 72! - neither were these "72" items accepted on delivery.
I believe that my stuff was probably mixed with another load & so the loss & damage, or during the shift from van to van & subsequent delivery. Who supervised??
My estimate for the irreplaceable rug was between R6000 & R8000, NOT R600!!!! Ever! I have the correspondence. Again - its about communication!!
That drum is a well recognised instrument of mine, recognised by my fellow musicians & friends. When I wrapped it in bubble wrap & taped it at the stem, it was in perfect condition. Why oh why would I take that much care - or even bother to pack a broken instrument, torn at the velum - which it WAS NOT at the time of collection! This tear is a tear from mishandling - plain & simple. The loss of my rug was due to negligence - plain & simple.
ONE LOST ITEM & TWO PERMANENTLY DAMAGED ONES. BOTTOM LINE .
You or any of your company involved in my move, may not assume responsibility, meaning the customer bears the brunt & the loss of mishandling & negligence.
Policy defense & R300 does not compensate or excuse.
I hope others will think twice before using Legend.

HI Edi,
I have sent the inventory list as per your request, please let me know your findings.
In your first WhatsApp to me you said R600. I have the message. I even asked you on WhatsApp why the big price difference.
Then it is unfortunate that this happened and we are sorry.  This is why insurance is offered cause one never knows when something goes wrong, but the insurance would not even have paid as you wrapped the items yourself and you did not want to take insurance. As we have had people pack candles in vases, we have had people put the items in a box with no protection between the glass, to the extent that we had people pack there own broken tv to blame us at the end, so if there is no physical tear on the bubblewrap when the items arrives or the bubblewrap is lose then we cannot be held responsible, you securely wrapped it, right? When the crew offloaded there is nothing untoward about the wrapping you app**** to the items. Well nothing was pointed out.
Once again regrettable that things turned out this way and I wish you peace.

Kind Regards
