Worst accommodation ever!

Never in my life have I experienced such bad service (or lack thereof).

Not only is the service poor but the staff's apathy is infuriating.

My partner and I recently attended his brother's wedding at langkloof roses. We also made use of the accommodation on the nights of 1 and 2 July 2016.

The wedding was beautiful and the venue is stunning, but the accommodation was horrible!

When we arrived at the gate we weren't welcomed (thank goodness the bride and groom had our room keys). The man at the gate didn't ask us who we were nor did we have to sign in (this is a serious security threat). The man told us to park where we see cars and that we have to find the room ourselves.

It took us more than 30mins to find our room (in the cold and rain). We tried desperately to get hold of a staff member as we couldn't find our room but after knocking on a third door and not getting an answer we had our first taste of langkloof roses' staff's apaty. We eventually found our room with the help of the groom's mother who had a map of Langkloof. There were no outside lights - those installed weren't working so we had to resort to using phone flashlights which made finding the room even harder.

When unlocking the door in the dark my partner was cut by a sharp ***** protruding from the door handle (this is not only a safety but also an infectious risk. This would not had happened was there proper lighting).

Upon entering the room we found the bathroom floor to be dirty, we cleaned it ourselves. The next day we were told very rudely that there is no room service and we have to make our own beds. We received fresh towels (left outside the door - dirty towels weren't collected) we were luckier that the groom's parents who didn't even get fresh towels - again no one could be found to lodge a complaint with.

Breakfast was monotonous and there does not seem to be any variety as it is exactly the same every morning. All the croissants were burnt, there was no option for eggs (fried, boiled, poached or whites only).
There was no bacon which would have been nice, instead it was the same low quality salami and pastrami every morning. There weren't a lot of vegetarian options not even to mention vegan or diabetic.

We tried to check out Sunday morning but yet again the staff were nowhere to be found and we left the key in the door. We went for lunch with the bridal couple and the family Sunday afternoon and when we returned the gate was closed. There is no bell/intercom to use at the gate. After trying more that 20 times to contact the emergency number provided in the rooms we had to resort to finding an alternative entrance and finding our way through thr property to our rooms. Later that evening we noticed that the room we stayed in still had the keys in the door meaning that it hadn't been serviced nor did the staff realize that we checked out.

The rooms were ill equipped, no wine glasses or bottle openers (and this is supposed to be wine country). The bathrooms are poorly planned as evident by the pooling of water, damage to the ceilings and water damage on the walls (this doesn't make it "rustic"). The bathroom isn't fitted with a toilet roll holder and low quality cheap one ply toilet paper is what's on offer.

Maintenance is clearly not a priority as the doorframe to the bathroom is rusted (tet**** risk). The outside light bulbs haven't been replaced - most are wolfram globes which haven't been in production for almost a decade showing that this has always been a problem and probably will continue to be thanks to the staff's apathy.

There are also no smoking signs up everywhere and we were advised to use the provided ashtray. No ashtrays were provided and in true langkloof style no staff member could be reached to ask for an ashtray.

This would have been acceptable had the price matched the level of service (or lack thereof) but this cost us close to R 1000 a night. I find this unacceptable and frankly quite insulting.

Other accommodation asking the same price (sometimes less) usually includes:
Welcoming with hot beverages
Being shown to your room - suitcases being ported
Turn down and room service.

Poor service that improves after complaints is one thing. But poor service coupled with apathy and a "don't care" attitude is unacceptable. It is clear from google and facebook reviews that some of these issues have been longstanding and there doesn't seem to be any attempt in improving them. If only we read these earlier, then we could have avoided this ********** experience.

I honestly don't see how this is an acceptable way to do business. It seems like langkloof wants to charge the maximum for their rooms and then spend as little as possible thus ensuring maximum profit.

I will not recommend langkloof roses to anyone, in fact I will go out of my way to make sure that the general public knows how horrible langkloof roses are. Everone needs to know what a ******* it is and how dangerous it can be (no wonder there is such a comprehensive indemnity in the welcoming letter)

I look forward to your response

This post is also available on Facebook, Google, Tripadvisor as well as Hello Peter.
