Unreliable Land Rover card

Hi Peter I own a Range Rover and Land Rover. As much as these cars are built for extreme terrain i never used them in that environment . These cars I find that they have frequent unplanned service trips and above 200 k kilometres they are practically useless despite of good service history and repairs by the same manufacturer. Their dealership in port Elizabeth which I have been using to service my cars just told me that each of the vehicle is not worth more than 40 k. Now I own a discovery 4 , just sent it for a brake service routine in my mind, this ended up being a 3 months wait , when enquiring they heard a noise and open up engine found a probable cause 2 months down the line . Problems with faulty fuel valves , now requiring replacement and also compressor which was working at 37 % out of spec , now their spec allow up to 10%. So I had to make a choice between not repairing any fuel injectors or replacing fuel injectectors only or replacing fuel injectors and compressor part of engine . Personally I have no issues with wear and tear but I would have thought that at certain service intervals it’s mandatory to check or replace fuel injectors, cam belts etc. so my advice and warning to the public is to stay away from these vehicles if you intend to keep the vehicle , a second hand a definitive no go zone. Just hope my experience helps other buyers
