Faulty Dominator

The kreepy krauly dominator is obviously not a very good design as there are numerous complaints about the unit. Mine too has started to spin in circles as it seems the gears on the one side are not working properly I have read other posts with the similar problem. Is it possible to sort this out or will it simply be a recurring problem? It is by no means a cheap unit but surely if it continues to be faulty then production should stop. Kreepy krauly is an established name with a supposed reputation of a superior product. I would appreciate an honest answer, either dump it and purchase a different brand or repair it? Thank you
