Kitchen Aid Blender

Very disappointed. Received a Kitchen Aid Blender in March 2017 which stopped working in October...8 months later. Seemed like it stopped turning although motor was going. Bought it from Banks in Woodstock for around R5k. Agent informed me today that repair will cost R2400...and that the jug was probably removed whilst motor was still going. At this price....one would expect some sort of a safety mechanism to prevent damage... how can I have this at home and tell the rest of my family they are not allowed to use it. I was saving for the mixer but have lost faith in the brand. Hoping that there will be some kind of customer care intervention....
