Waste of Insurance

Comprehensive cover - Zero claims in 3 years for both car and house hold insurance. One and a half weeks into the month, I move into my new place and I call to update my info and make a claim as my TV has broken. The agent then outlines my policy and what is covered. To this I note that I actually did have items damage due to Loadshedding - My pc harddrive was damaged at the previous address and I was not aware I could claim for it. I'm told that I cannot be helped because I should have notified the insurance about the change of address before making the claim and since I am making the change today I cannot claim for the TV. I do not believe this is fair treatment or a valid reason to reject my claim. Policy has since been cancelled.
