Using assessor's report who did not inspect damage
I live in a small town in KZN north where we experienced a massive rainfall event where 206mm in 6 hours were recorded by a number of residents in our community. This rainfall event equates to a 1 in 50 year storm event.
A portion of my paving settled. An assessor came out to record the damage and provided a report to KP. The management was not 'happy' with the report and requested a second opinion from another assessor who did not inspect the property.
The person processing the claim read the second report for me over the phone. The report was very ambiguous and not factual as they used the words like, may, can etc.
The second report was what KP accepted as this suited them best. Without the assessor viewing the damage and based their report on assumed scenarios.
The area where I reside is in an area with collapsable soil and the excessive water caused the settlement.
The KP chosen report mentioned that if there are not sufficient drainage, damage to the paving can or may be caused. Again, without any inspection from the chosen assessor.
They rejected the claim based on assumptions and unfounded statements.
Do not use King Price as they are not there to help their customers.
