UNSAVORY TREATMENT FROM AN INSURER namely KING PRICE. Absolutely DISGUSTING.

I lodged a claim for damage to my vehicle on 14 October 2026. Since then, I have been subjected to a confusing and frustrating claims process, characterised by conflicting information from various assessors, repeated notifications that my claim has been approved, and ongoing discussions around cash settlement options, yet no actual repair work has commenced.

One of my primary concerns is that the assessment process appears to have been conducted electronically rather than through a physical inspection of the vehicle. In my view, this method does not accurately reflect the extent of the damage sustained and has led to inconsistent assessments and recommendations.

Repair Central was initially appointed to assess the vehicle. At the time, I advised them that I would be travelling to East London and that I intended to obtain an assessment from Ray Giese's Panel Beaters, a repairer that has previously completed two repairs on this vehicle. Ray Giese's subsequently submitted an assessment in the region of R22,000, after which I was informed that King Price was open to a cash payout arrangement.

Throughout this process, I have received numerous SMS notifications stating that my claim has been approved. However, I continue to be informed that assessors will contact me and that further assessments are required. This raises a serious question: if the claim has been approved, why is there still uncertainty regarding the repair process, and when will my vehicle actually be repaired?

Furthermore, despite my vehicle being nowhere near the repair stage, I have already been notified of a premium increase effective 1 December 2026. This is particularly concerning given that the claim remains unresolved and no repairs have commenced.

I specifically requested that Ray Giese's Panel Beaters perform the repairs. Despite this, I was ultimately advised that Auto Magic had been appointed to assess and repair the vehicle. I was further informed that Auto Magic would keep me updated regarding the progress of the repairs. To date, however, the process remains unclear, and I continue to receive conflicting information from different parties involved in the claim.

I therefore request that King Price provide:

A clear explanation of the current status of my claim. Confirmation as to whether the claim has in fact been approved. The reason for the multiple and conflicting assessments. The basis upon which Auto Magic was appointed despite my request for Ray Giese's Panel Beaters. A definitive repair commencement date and expected completion timeline. Clarification regarding the premium increase while the claim remains unresolved.

I expect a prompt response and resolution to this matter, as the handling of this claim has thus far been unsatisfactory and has caused unnecessary inconvenience and frustration.
