Unresolved claim: King Price

On 2018-03-17 my son was involved in an accident with my vehicle ( King Price claim no : Claim no : CKP ********** /3 ). The accident was caused by other parties who bumped into my vehicle from the rear. The assessor from King Price came to interview me and my son in respect of accident( no fault of mine or my son). All the necessary forms, photos and documentation have been submitted to the accessor, including the accident form which cost me R288. I even filled a document giving King Price permission to do an ITC check on me, give them permission to check tracker company history and my previous insurance. I had no objections to any of these requests as I had nothing to hide. More than two weeks have passed and I still did not obtain any authorisation from King Price for repairs to be affected on my vehicle. The assessor apparently is attempting to find any piece of evidence to repudiate my claim ( which is no fault of mine or my son.) The assessor even went to such an extend to check if my cars are in reality parked in a lock up garage. The assessor is even questioning why my vehicle has done so high mileage from January 2015 to March 2018. The only fault that the assessor found in my claim is failing to disclose previous accidents, of which I disclosed only two. I could not recall other incidents, prior to 2015, which could prejudice my claim. The assessor is also the claims clerk from King Price. As a result of his stalling with the claim process I am being severely prejudiced. I had taken the initiative to call the other insurance party ( Outsurance) to submit a third party claim. Although I am no client of Outsurance, they submitted the necessary forms for me to submit a claim. I was an ex client of Outsurance and I now regret cancelling my insurance of more than 13 years with them to save on insurance premiums. I was still treated like a valued client even though I no longer deal with them. When I was with Outsurance my claim was dealt in maximum 3 days time. This was my first accident of which I submitted a claim to King Price and assessor is trying by all means to repudiate claim even though the accident was caused by an Outsurance client. I am so grateful to Anneline and Chantel from the Outsurance Legal department who are so understanding, courteous and so professional. While King Price assessors are "dragging their feet" to process claim Outsurance legal Dept are already ready to assist me with any eventuality.

Thanks to Charl from King Insurance to intervene in this matter and resolve this problem to the satisfaction of both parties. I am sorry this matter to public domain but it was the only remedy available to me at time to reach a speedy resolution to this matter.

I received a response from the accessor Frans Jacobs that my claim was rejected. Despite so many calls to claims dept I was informed only assessor can give me feedback. Despite the assurances from the claims manager Charl that the matter will be resolved, this was not the case in my favour. Frans knew in advance he would repudiate claim but informed me only after 4pm today that my claim would be rejected for failure to disclose claim history. If I request a quote from Outsurance how is it that they have my claim history but not King Price. It seems that after you submit 3 claims the the third claim goes to assessor to find loopholes in the claim so that the claim can be rejected. Still very disappointed that the claims manager and assessor are not on same wavelength when dealing with claim. Not only was there a problem with the claims department but also I received a rerate that my insurance premiums will double as from 1st May. It seems that the IT dept had duplicated my vehicles on cover. Despite so many requests the problem was not resolved. Only when I threatened to cancel policy then a senior advisor intervened to rectify the correct premium on the policy. The matter concerning the claim has not been resolved but I will refer matter to Ombudsman and my lawyers to resolve dispute. So disappointed with the incoherent handling of matter and lack of coordination between various departments within King Price. My vehicle could have been repaired a long time ago if the assessor did not delay in the processing of claim.

I understand from a source that when a claim is rejected the assessor gets a bonus cheque of between 10% to 15% of total claim rejected. Assessors go out of their way to achieve their bonuses. This is when they find loopholes in the claim
