Unexpected Premium Increases & Unknown Claim on Policy

I have been a loyal King Price client, but my recent policy update has left me both confused and concerned.

After comparing my previous Policy Schedule with the updated one, I noticed that the premiums on all my existing vehicles have increased significantly, with a total increase of R426.31.

Breakdown of increases:

1) NP200: R639.83 → R720.34 (increase of R80.51) 2) NP200: R651.10 → R758.08 (increase of R106.98) 3) Chevrolet Trailblazer: R791.80 → R928.74 (increase of R136.94) 4) 2018 Ford Ranger Double Cab: R575.46 → R677.68 (vehicle has been standing at Ford18 December 2025 and not in use)

I recently added two additional vehicles to my policy, however, I do not understand why this has resulted in increased premiums across all my existing vehicles. One would expect some form of benefit or reduced risk profile when insuring multiple vehicles under one policy, not the opposite.

In addition to this, I also identified a concerning discrepancy under the claims summary:

We are aware of the following claims: 1) 03/01/2025 – TV replacement (R21,500.00) 2) 07/03/2025 – Glass replacement 3) 26/02/2024 – Car accident

However, there is a claim listed as: 4) 08/10/2025 – Home contents (R8,100.00) We have no knowledge of this claim whatsoever.

This raises serious concerns regarding the accuracy of our policy records and how this may be impacting our premiums.

I request urgent clarification on the following:

1) The reason for the premium increases across all vehicles 2) Whether these increases are linked to the addition of new vehicles 3) Any available options to reduce premiums 4) A full investigation and explanation of the unknown claim listed on the policy

As a long-standing client, I expect transparency, accuracy, and fair treatment. At this stage, the unexplained increases and discrepancies are very concerning.

I look forward to a prompt and detailed response from King Price.

Hi Riaan,

Thank you for getting in touch with us. Please understand that there are a lot of factors that go into a premium increase. These include factors such as changes to your risk profile and claims history to just name a few.

That said, we always want to make sure you are getting the best possible deal, so I have sent a copy of your message on to the Client Care division who will be in touch shortly to discuss your policy.

Royal regards,

Thank you for your response.

I completely understand that there are many factors that can influence premium increases, including risk profile and claims history.

However, my concern is not just the increase itself — it is the lack of transparency.

At no point during my interaction with your consultant was I informed that adding two additional vehicles would result in premium increases across all my existing vehicles. This is critical information that should have been clearly communicated upfront, as it directly impacts my decision-making.
As a client, I expect to be properly advised of any financial implications before changes are made to my policy, not after the fact when the updated schedule is issued.

In addition to this, the unknown claim listed on my policy (08/10/2025 – Home contents R8,100.00) remains unexplained, which is extremely concerning and could be unfairly affecting my premiums.
I would appreciate urgent clarity on:
  • Why I was not informed about the impact on existing premiums when adding vehicles
  • A detailed breakdown of how these increases were calculated
  • Immediate investigation and resolution of the unknown claim

I trust that your Client Care team will address these matters thoroughly, as transparency and accuracy are essential in maintaining client trust. Kind regards,
Riaan

No Feedback Despite Escalation – Ongoing Concern
I am extremely disappointed with the lack of follow-up from King Price after my initial complaint.
On 18 March 2026, I raised serious concerns regarding:
  • Unexplained premium increases across all my vehicles
  • Lack of transparency when adding additional vehicles to my policy
  • An unknown claim (08/10/2025 – R8,100.00) listed on my policy which I have no knowledge of
I was informed that the matter had been escalated to the Client Care team and that I would be contacted.
On 19 March 2026, I was again told that the Client Care team would be in touch and was provided with an email address.
As of today, I have still received no communication whatsoever.
This level of service is unacceptable, especially considering:
  • The financial impact of the unexplained premium increases
  • The seriousness of an unknown claim reflected on my policy
  • The fact that I am a long-standing, loyal client
I have acted in good faith, raised valid concerns, and followed the correct channels — yet I am being met with silence.
I now formally request:
  1. Immediate contact from a senior representative
  2. A full written explanation of the premium increases
  3. Urgent investigation and removal (if incorrect) of the unknown claim
  4. Accountability for the lack of communication and service
If this matter is not resolved urgently, I will have no choice but to escalate it further through the appropriate regulatory channels.
I expect a prompt and meaningful response.
