On the 31st of March 2018 my Audi was ****** near Loftus stadium. After Cartrack confirmed that the car was in Mamelodi, my wife I immediately reported it to the necessary authorities & informed King Price of what happened. After a month of lagged service, King Price eventually contacted me to state that my car was deemed a write off & that the retail value of my car will be paid over as per my policy. As I require a car for work purposes, I contacted my father which assisted me in the purchase of a Hyundai.

A week later I was contacted by another King Price rep that stated he would like to meet up with me as there is a few items needed to finalize the claim. Without hesitation I made a plan to meet up with him & gave him all the needed info he requires to finalize the claim, which included my bank statements, permission for them to obtain my cell phones beacons & billings statement, etc. 2 Weeks later he contacted me again to meet up at the King Price offices. I immediately knew that this was not standard practice & had my scepticism going into the meeting. In the meeting I was cross examined again by the King Price claim assessors about the happenings of that day – Bear in mind that this was 53 days after my car was ******. I was asked if I had wrecked my own car & how much I had to drink that day. They stated that my cell phones beacons & billings statement stated that I was in Derdepoort Park during the time that I sated I was near Loftus & that the evidence is stacked against me. I was told that should I proceed with the claim it will get rejected. I was made out to be a lair & was in quite a state leaving their offices. The claims assessor escorted me to the car holding the recording device to my face. Ultimately I informed King Price to proceed with their findings as I did not lie & had nothing to hide. Needless to say, I received a letter a few weeks later stating that my claim was rejected. You did not provide true and complete information. I was requested to collect my car at their service provider & on investigation discovered that there were more damages to the car than there was before it was left in King Price’s care.

As my beacons & billings statement, that placed me in a different location that what I said I was, is the only legitimate evidence that supports their rejection, I set out to prove King Price wrong. I asked King Price to share my beacons & billings statement with me, but I was denied. I then needed to go to Cell C’s Head office in order to obtain this document that took around two weeks. On receipt of this document I saw a critical piece of evidence that King Price missed.

My car was parked near Loftus at 15:53. My cell phone had received communication at 15:50 & shows that I am in Derdepoort Park. This clearly means that either Loftus falls under the Derdepoort Park region or there was a technical glitch from Cell C’s side. Also in the meeting held at King Price offices, I was told that they managed to find a photo of me driving to Loftus, which means I was definitely in the car when it stopped in park street. Both these statements are backed up by my beacons & billings statement & my cartrack report. Additionally a photo of myself was taken on Loftus stadium at 18:24 that was shared on our family’s WhatsApp group chat. My cartrack report shows that the car left Park street near Loftus at 18:06.

All of this info along with additional affidavits was given to the internal ombudsman of King Price which assured us that they will review the case again & get back to us within 10 days. My wife & I clearly expressed that this matter be handled with urgency, as we are in dire financial straits paying for a car that we cannot use. 4 weeks & a few days later I got a letter from the internal ombudsman to state that my claim result remains unchanged. Reasons are as follows in short:

- Cell C was contacted and they confirmed that there are many towers around the area of Loftus and thus if you were in Loftus, then one of the towers in and around the Loftus area would have picked your cell phone up. - When considering the above, it is very clear that your phone had to be in the vicinity of Derdepoort park at 20:35 as indicated on your beacons and billings. This in turn means that you could not have been at Loftus during that time. This fact on its own discredits your version that you were still at Loftus looking for the vehicle at this time.

From the above it is clearly evident that King Price did not take the above facts that I mentioned to them into consideration when they reassessed the claim.

I hired a private investigator that has been on the case for the last few weeks. With a rage of forensic tests, it has been proven that I did not provide untrue and incomplete information to King Price. All of this evidence has now been taken to my attorneys that will sue King Price for defamation.

I hope that the information above opens the eyes of the public & of the King Price directors to underhanded dealings that goes on within the organization. I hope It shows that King Price does not have the best interest of their clients at heart, but rather their own pockets.
