*****ULENT
I recently had a challenging experience with my insurance provider, King Price. My laptop, insured by them, suffered a significant fall, resulting in a broken screen. Although the rest of the laptop functions well, and I can use it with a projector, the issue with the screen remains. There is damage on the laptop on the side due to this fall - laptop was dented. King Price collected the device and sent it for assessment to Assesstech, a *****ulent company partnered with King Price. The report concluded that the damage was due to mechanical failure and wear and tear, leading King Price to reject my claim. They stated that their policy doesn't cover damages related to wear and tear. However, attached to the assessment report from Assesstech included a video clearly showing the screen's crack as a result of the fall - a type of accidental damage which is supposedly covered by King Price. As a customer of King Price, I have serious concerns about their ethical practices, based on my personal experiences: Transparency and Honesty: In my case, the assessment of my laptop's damage seemed to lack transparency. The report from Assesstech, a partner of King Price, indicated wear and tear, which contradicted the evident accidental damage. Such discrepancies raise questions about the honesty in their claim assessment process. Fairness in Service: Insurance is a service based on trust. Customers expect fair treatment, especially when it comes to claim assessments and payouts. By seemingly misclassifying my laptop’s damage, King Price has shown a lack of fairness, undermining the trust that is essential in the insurer-insured relationship. Consistency in Policy Application: The situation with my laptop suggests that there may be inconsistency in how King Price applies their policies. Accidental damage, which was evident in my case, is typically covered in standard insurance policies. The rejection of my claim on grounds not aligning with the visible evidence of accidental damage is concerning. Responsibility Towards Clients: As a lawyer and a customer who has insured high-value items like a R700k car with them, I expect a higher level of responsibility and ethical conduct. If simple claims are handled in a questionable manner, how can clients trust them with more significant claims?
