Third party liability

I am a 25 y/o girl, works as an intern (not permanent) so I’m basically still dependent on my parent though I live in Pretoria for my internship. My mom is insured with KingPrice and pays for a third party liability cover, in March 2025 she gave me her car willingly for a week because she wanted me to get some things for her this side. In 1 of the days of that week I happened to mistakenly scratch a car while parking by the parking lot of a mall. I quickly exchanged details confidently with the person I scratched and gave them my mom’s insurer (King Price). I filed in the claim with King Price and gave the details about the incident. Recently they contacted me and my mom and they say they can’t cover the damage because I’m not a student. Mind you I am in a graduate program, my license is older than 5 years meaning I’m not an immature driver, I’m still dependent on her on even costs like medical aid and everything else. But they are dismissing it and don’t want to pay because I’m not a “student”. Is that how liability covers work ?
