*******

On 11 January 2017, I took out a policy with King Price, indicating that this was for a vehicle which I did not own yet and was as per Wesbank’s requirements that insurance be in place when delivery of the vehicle is taken. I told your salesman all of this. I was happy with the instalment and the service and I decided to go ahead. I then had an issue with the fact that the vehicle would only be covered and the policy activated once the vehicle was taken for inspection. We subsequently worked this and everything went ahead. The premium and the “activation fee” were withdrawn from my account the very next day.

The vehicle deal then fell through and the vehicle was never delivered and never taken for inspection. I cancelled the policy on 14 January (which was the earliest possible time). Their rep, Mark, then puzzled me by saying that the activation fee would not be refunded. I told him that was impossible, since I was well within my rights as nothing was activated. He told me that he would follow up.

I checked again today and was told that I definitely would not be refunded. I find this extremely *********, and in fact, ****************.

1. According to King Price, the cover was NOT activated, until it was inspected. This did not happen.

2. I was well within my 5 day cooling off period

3. Nothing was insured because I did not even own the car!

I had planned to move all my insurance products to King Price, including my business insurance. I find it hard to believe that King Price would lose a potential customer over a R200 activation fee!
